That was me Monday — coffee in one hand, a soggy pool noodle in the other, wondering how a noodle got left in the yard overnight and why the dog was guarding it.
Summer in Parrish, folks. The rain shows up at 3 o'clock, the kids show up hungry at 3:05, and somehow we keep the whole train on the tracks.
This week we're going full steam into summer — new neighborhoods rising, free family fun all over the county, a fresh breakfast spot worth the drive, and a good boy named Percy who's been waiting way too long for a porch of his own.

Parrish Keeps Building: Del Webb Explore Opens & a Hospital Is Coming
🏘️What's new: Del Webb Explore North River Ranch — the first Del Webb "Explore" community in Florida (no 55+ requirement) — held its grand opening this spring at 11435 Emberstone Circle.
📊 The numbers: 901 homes planned across 410 acres, built around health, wellness, and resort-style amenities.
🏥 The big one: County commissioners approved a six-story, 150-bed hospital plus 125,000 square feet of medical office space at North River Ranch — real healthcare close to home.
🔭 Zoom out: North River Ranch is approved for roughly 6,000 homes total. Parrish isn't slowing down.
🚦 If you've sat at the Moccasin Wallow light lately, you already know — we're growing fast. But this round of growth comes with something we've been asking for: a hospital right here in our backyard, so families won't have to drive to Bradenton in an emergency. New rooftops bring traffic, sure, but they also bring doctors, jobs, and neighbors. That's a trade most of us will take. 👍

Ten years strong and still the best place in the county to meet your next best friend. Fees are waived, the pets are ready, and the family vote will be unanimous before you reach the parking lot. Just maybe leave a little room in the back seat for the ride home.

Breakfast people, this one's for you. The Breakfast Company finally planted a flag near Parrish, and they do it right — scratch-baked everything and a menu built for both the sit-down-with-the-family crowd and the grab-it-and-go-to-work crowd. Get there early on the weekend; word's already out. ☕🍳

Beat the Heat at Fort Hamer Park

🚣 What: Boat ramp, kayak/paddle access on the Manatee River, shaded picnic spots, playground, and open green space
💡 Tip: In June, go early. Get there by 8–9 a.m. before the heat index climbs, pack more water than you think you need, and plan to be home before the 3 o'clock storms roll in.
Florida summer doesn't mean staying chained to the AC — it just means being smart about the clock. A morning paddle or a riverside picnic at Fort Hamer beats a screen any day, and the early hours are cooler, quieter, and a whole lot more pleasant. Sunscreen, water, hats — then go make the kids put down the tablets.
